Project Description

RDM served as the prime consultant to provide overall project management, detailed pavement analysis, pavement design, and rehabilitation options for the asphalt T-Hangar ramp and associated taxilane.  The scope of the project included the pavements around hangars G, H, and I.

While developing the pavement designs and rehabilitation alternatives, a pavement geometry analysis revealed that several areas of the taxilane did not meet FAA design criteria for required width.  RDM prepared a graphic showing the non-conforming areas and submitted a proposed widening detail to the FAA ADO for consideration.  FAA provided additional funds to bring the pavements into compliance with design standards.

RDM oversaw all aspects of the project and assisted with the topographic survey and geotechnical exploration by providing pavement core locations and field escort services.  RDM performed pavement designs and worked closely with the Airport Authority to minimize impacts to the T-Hangar tenants.  Phasing was provided to allow adequate work area for constructability while maximizing tenant utilization throughout the project’s entirety. RDM created safety-phasing plans for the project, and graphic exhibits were provided to indicate closures and durations.

RDM provided construction management services including assistance with bidding, review of contractor submittals, bid tabulations, and award recommendations.  RDM had a representative on site during construction who oversaw all daily construction activities.  RDM led the construction progress meetings and prepared meeting agendas and minutes.  RDM tracked schedule and budget, reviewed contractor pay requests, and submitted daily reports to the Authority.  RDM provided required reports for the FAA.  RDM provided all record documents related to the project, including “as-built” drawings.
